Balika Vadhu — Kachchi Umar Ke Pakke Rishte, commonly abbreviated as Balika Vadhu, is an Indian television drama series that premiered on 21 July 2008 on Colors TV. This show portrays various issues related with child marriage.

Balika Vadhu traces the life journey of Anandi and Jagdish, married in childhood. When they grow up, Jagdish falls in love with Gauri. He marries her after his and Anandi's divorce against his family's wishes and later moves out of that household, leaving Anandi alone. Anandi, on the other hand stands on her own feet and becomes independent. She meets collector Shivraj Shekhar whom she later marries. After Jagdish realizes his mistake, he divorces Gauri and returns to his family only to receive the shock of Anandi's marriage. He meets an illiterate girl named Ganga who also had been a victim of child marriage and being tortured by her in-laws. He helps her break free from her in-laws, supports her so she can fulfill her dreams of becoming a nurse and eventually marries her after he realizes his love for her. He accepts her son Mannu as his own and later becomes the father of her child named Abhimanyu. Anandi and Shivraj on the other hand, adopt an orphan and give him the love and affection of real parents. After two years of happy married life Shivraj is killed by terrorists and Anandi gives birth to their twins shortly after that incident - Shivam and Nandini. Ganga on the other hand further studies to become a doctor by the help of Jagdish. Anandi daughter Nandini later gets kidnapped and eventually married to the kidnappers son, Kundan. After being unnable from finding her daughter, Anandi decides to stay in India when her laws are about to move to Singapore. Because of her daughter was still in India and she wanted to find her, she moves back to Jagdish's house. After 11 years Anandi's daughter who is known as Nimboli goes through the same as her mother went through years back. Anandi on the other hand becomes a karate teacher and teaches young girl karate for self-defence. Ganga becomes a doctor and Jagdish is taking the responsibility of Shivraj and Anandi and Jagdish are reunited. Ganga is later killed by her ex-husband and Mannu and Abhimanyu grows up as orphans with vague memory of his mother. Later, Mannu meets Jagdish and realizes the truth, but Abhimanyu blames Jagdish for his mothers death and kills him. Everyone dies of an alien attack in the end.
